Global Leadership Summit, Business Edition Hyderabad 2023

Leadership is a complex role that comes with its own set of challenges. Navigating the complexities of leadership requires acknowledging and overcoming challenges. Leaders must grasp potential pitfalls for effective growth and resilience. By engaging in open dialogue and learning from shared experiences, leaders can develop strategies to overcome these pitfalls, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

I have had an opportunity to speak and shed light on a few leadership pitfalls he confronted during his leadership journey and explain how he navigated those challenges at the Global Leadership Summit, Business Edition Hyderabad, at T-Hub.

The summit was truly enjoyable, with outstanding facilitators, speakers, and an engaged audience.

The Three Box Solution

 

Strategy isn’t about dwelling on the past or present; It’s all about leadership in the future. As the world continues to evolve, aspiring leaders must embrace change. Another word for embracing change is innovation. Thus, strategy is synonymous with innovation. Therefore, leaders must consider all the projects they execute inside their organization and put them into three boxes.

  • Box 1: Manage the present – Projects meant to manage the core business, improving efficiency and profitability.
  • Box 2: Selectively abandon the past – Projects that are meant to abandon ideas, practices, and attitudes that could inhibit innovation in our organization;
  • Box 3: Create the future – Convert breakthrough ideas into new products and businesses.

Unfortunately, many companies prioritize box #1 and mistakenly believe they excel in their strategic efforts. But the strategy has nothing to do with the past, nothing to do with the present, and everything to do with the future. In other words, it has nothing to do with Box #1 and everything to do with Box #2 and Box #3

  • Box #1 is all about competition for the present, and Box #2 & #3 are all about competition for the future.
  • Box #1 is about efficiency, and Box #2 & #3 are about innovation.

We must realize that strategy is about creating the future while managing the present. Strategy is all about how we simultaneously manage efficiency and innovation.

Women Leadership Development Program

I was honored to address the ‘40th Edition of HYSEA Women Leadership Development Program, ‘ an initiative crafted for Women Leaders. This program is designed exclusively for Women leaders in Mid-level roles in the Hyderabad IT/IETS ecosystem. The program aims to enable aspiring women to pursue even higher leadership roles. 

The program featured a series of sessions led by seasoned industry veterans, including CXOs, VPs, Directors, and other accomplished professionals. Drawing from their extensive expertise in business development, personnel management, finance, marketing, sales, and delivery, these speakers provided valuable insights. 

During the event, I had the opportunity to deliver an interactive session on “Attitude: The Catalyst for Effective Leadership.” Within this session, I delved into the nuances of fostering resilience as a leader, cultivating habits and mindsets conducive to optimal performance.
